New DSA policy Regarding Observed Driving Tests comes into force on April 6th. The aim of the DSA is to increase the number of observed Tests, However, moves to make Observed Tests compulsory were vehemently opposed by Instructor Groups last Year and Subsequently dropped.
The New test procedure for 'Voluntary Observation' has now been added to the Examiners guidance notes and is as follows.
In the Waiting Room: The Examiner will ask,''Would you like your Instructor/Accompanying driver to Accompany you on the Test and be there at the end of the Test Feedback?''
If the customer says ''No'', the Examimer will ask, ''Would you like Instructor/Accompanying Driver to be there at the end of the Test for the Feedback?'' ''Thankyou, will you lead the way to the car please?''.
END OF THE TEST-PASS OR FAIL.
The Examiner will say,''Please switch of the engine and give me a moment to complete my paperwork.''
If the test was not accompanied and the Instructor/accompanying driver comes over to the vehicle to listen to the Conclusion of the Test, the Examiner will confirm with the Customer that they want their Instructor/accompanying driver present.
